How to manage your domain


If you have a domain registered with us, you can manage it through the domain control panel.



Logging into the domain control panel:

  1.  1. Sign into your client area at my.ihost.net.
  2.  2. Login with your email address and password.  If you are unable to login, please submit a ticket to have your domain   password reset.
  3.  3. From the menu at the top of the page click on Domains then select My Domains.
  4.  4. Click the drop down arrow next to the domain you want to manage and select Manage Domain.

From the manage domain screen you can:
  •     Change the Auto Renew Status
  •     Change the Name Servers*
  •     Remove the Registrar Lock
  •     Purchase addons such as ID Protection
  •     Change Domain Contact information
  •     Set up Private Name Servers*
  •     Get the EPP Code

* these actions will break the connection to your website hosted with iHost.

You can also complete the following Actions:
  •     Renew the domain
  •     Register a new domain
  •     Transfer a domain to iHost
    


DNS changes for closed accounts:

 1. Go to https://access.name-services.com/.
 2. Login with your domain name (without the www) and password.  If you are unable to login, please submit a ticket to have your domain password reset.


Adding an A Record / CName (For closed hosting accounts):

If you have an active hosting account with us, please submit a support ticket to add your DNS settings to our server.  Otherwise this could shut off access to your website.

 1. Press the Domain Settings tab.
 2. Press the Edit button next to DNS Information.
 3. Select "Default" next to DNS Settings.
 4. Press Save.
 5. Press the Edit button next to Host Records.
 6. Enter your A Records / Cnames as shown below.

 FYI: A Records map to IP addresses (e.g. 198.92.147.146); CNames map to domain names (e.g. forum.somesite.com)

 Note: Press the Add New button if you need to create more rows.

 7. Press Save

 
Adding a MX Record (For closed hosting accounts):

 If you have an active hosting account with us, please submit a support ticket to add your MX Records to our server.  Otherwise, this could shut off access to your website and email.

 1. Press the Domain Settings tab
 2. Press the Edit button next to DNS Information
 3. Select "Default" next to DNS Settings
 4. Press Save
 5. Press the Edit button next to Email Settings
 6. Next to the "@" Host Name, Enter your MX Record setting and preference

 Adding Multiple MX Records: If you need to add multiple MX Records, below your first record, enter "@" for the HostName, then enter the MX Record settings and preference to the right.  There is a maximum of 4 root "@" records.  If your mail server has provided you with more than 4 MX records, you can generally leave out the remaining MX Records - it should not affect your email.

 7. Press the Save button
